About me

My name is Ellie. Hi!

I’m 36 and live in London with my adopted cat Buster.

In non-plague times, I enjoy a lot of different things – yoga, gardening, cooking, reading, walking (other people’s!) dogs, lots of different crafts, spending time at my partner’s allotment, and spending time with my friends. I also used to enjoy music and comedy gigs and theatre though that seems like a lifetime ago now.

In the future I plan to move in with my partner (after Covid), meet my partner’s much loved kids who are 7 and 10, and adopt a dog.

I also have dreams of moving to the seaside, travelling more, volunteering more, teaching yoga to other people with health challenges, and possibly fostering or adopting children, depending on my health trajectory.

I used to be a humanitarian aid worker, and my last job overseas was in Syria, helping people to rebuild their livelihoods. Now, I work for a charity in London, as I’m no longer able to travel for work. I help improve the ethical standards of humanitarian aid delivery.

I love the sector that I work in because not only is it rewarding trying to improve people’s situations in life, but it has also given me great perspective to weather my own challenges, and appreciation for the fantastic social goods we have in the UK – namely the NHS.

I am a Labour voter through and through, believe in Unions, and helping each other out.

I also live with kidney failure, and currently do dialysis whilst I search for a transplant. On the next page, I tell you more about my kidney situation.
